I'm almost an adult...

Tonight is the last night I have before entering the world of grown up life. That means working all 12 months of the year and not having a 3 month long summer break or a month like Winter "holiday."

For my last day of freedom, I went and saw Star Trek. (Dad, Amber go see it ASAP.) It was AMAZING and I 100% recommend it to everyone. All of my roommates had already seen it and were more than happy to see it again (even when we had to pay $12 to see it!)

One thing I've learned here is that EVERYTHING is more expensive in LA. That's cool, I guess, but I'm still baffled by the fact that you have to pay to park at the movie theatre, the mall, even Target. We've learned to be really fast with all of our excursions, because the faster you are, the less money it costs to get your car out of the deck. The crazy thing is that it is sometimes cheaper to valet park then to park yourself.

Last night, I went to dinner with Amanda, her dad Word (who is so cool btw) and Amanda's roommates who are also interns from UNC. We went to McCormick and Schmick and it was delicious. I know there's one in Charlotte so if you're close by, go. While at dinner I had another celeb sighting: Bryan Greenberg. I recognized him as Jake, the baby's father in One Tree Hill, but he is most known as the lead in Prime. That afternoon I also saw Dane Cook signing autographs on Hollywood Blvd. He's cute, just in case you were wondering.

I hope everyone's doing well and I hope to hear about everyone's lives soon. Miss you lots!
*Wish me luck on my first day of work tomorrow!! And hope I don't get stuck in traffic :)

LAPD will wreck your world

Yesterday I moved into my apartment. And by that I mean I took out the 7+ bags/suitcases/trunk that I had in my backseat and trunk and carried them up into my apartment. Most of them didn't even make it into my room.

Oh yes, we chose rooms. As most of you know, I'm living in a 2-bedroom apartment with 5 people. I'm in the room with 3 girls with the bathroom attached. It's not too bad for me since I've lived in triples the majority of my college career (I would almost count 1st year when I basically lived in Al and Lauren's room.) It feels a lot like living in a dorm again with all of our stuff crammed in the room except that we have a TON of closet space. I wound up hanging most of my clothes (which is a lot) and there is STILL A LOT of space left. Where they skipped out on floor space, they made up for with closets.

So, last night I picked up one of my roommates from LAX. On our way back, we missed our turn and wound up on some random residential street (not in Compton, j.i.c. you were wondering). We pulled up next to an LAPD on a motorcycle and he conveniently rode off into the sunset (or so we thought) before we could ask him for directions. Carminita told us to make a right turn so since I was in the straight lane, I waited for the light to turn green, put on my turn signal, moved into the next lane, checked to make sure no one was coming and then made my right turn. Well, not two seconds later, who shows up behind me? The nice LAPD I mentioned earlier who blew us off. He cnoveniently turned around to pull me over for making an illegal right turn. Although I waited until the light was green, used my turn signal, and made sure that no one was coming. He wasn't having it. So I now have a traffic violation in the state of California after only having been here a handful of days. Nice.

If you can imagine, this put somewhat of a damper on the rest of my evening.

On a brighter note, I also got a new phone yesterday!! Goodbye pay-as-you-go phone. I've included a pic of my slick new mobile. It even has internet access :) haha. I hope you're all doing well. Miss you lots!!

p.s. Happy Birthday Laine!

This Ain't No Disco...

It' ain't no country club either; this is LA.

I've officially been on the west coast now for 2 days! In case anyone wondered, Amber and I made it in PPM (Purple Pimp Mobile--the Volvo) made it here safely after 3 days of driving cross country. We left Saturday morning a little before 7 and stayed the night in Little Rock, AR with one of Amber's friends. We drove all the next day and stayed in Albuquerque, NM before finally making it all the way to LA.

So, I've never really traveled around the U.S. and was so excited to drive around the country because of all the cool and interesting things I'd see driving down I-40. I was wrong. There are a lot of trees. And then there's a lot more trees. And then once you get out of AK, there's a lot of dirt. I have to admit, I definitely think the east coast is the prettiest part of the country but there are some great sunsets out west.

I move into my apartment tomorrow and I can't wait! It's really close to Hollywood Blvd. and where I work which is down Sunset. Amber and I drove around town yesterday so I could learn my way around, which if you know me, is quite difficult because I'm not great with directions. Luckily, I have a cute little GPS I have named Carminita. Why Carminita? Well, on our long journey of being in the car for 12 hour periods, Amber and I were delirious and named her friend's GPS Carmin the Garmin. Cute, right? haha. After we got here, it was obvious that with my lack of direction and inability to talk on the phone whilst driving (Cali law), I was in trouble so we bought my very own little Carmin aka Carminita.

Okay, this post is long and not very entertaining, my b. Hopefully the next ones will be filled with stories of me meeting Zaquisha and R Patz as well as Miley Cyrus and other Disney peeps. In the mean time, drink a lot of sweet tea for me (there is none here, I'm already going through withdrawals.)
